Elgin Schneider - Mayor of the Village of Sundridge

Lyle was born in the Burk's Falls Hospital and spent his childhood growing up in Sundridge.  Both his father, Vernon, and mother, Barbara, (Walker) had their parents relocate to Sundridge in the early 1900's.  Many of his extended family still live, work and play in the village area.

Lyle's work career included tool and die, and refrigeration mechanic apprenticeships, as well as a part time teaching job at Humber College.  In 1986 he became one of the first employees at Honda of Canada Mfg.  At HCM he spent 25 years in management and he became a Certified Engineering Technician (C.E.T.), focused on the plant's quality control. His duties included coordinating production, new model start-ups, multi-departmental working groups and focus teams.  He also spent years as a senior member of HCM's Health and Safety board, Budget and Environmental committees.

He purchased a home in the village and relocated back to Sundridge in 2010.  He retired full time to Sundridge in 2012.  He currently devotes his time to his wife, Cathy, and his four adopted children and two older boys.

Lyle was appointed to Sundridge Council in October 2013 and subsequently elected Mayor in October 2014.

"I feel it is my duty to preserve the heritage of the Sundridge community for the next generation, and I feel my experience combined with my unique perspective as both parent and retiree would allow me to achieve this goal, while supporting the ratepayers’ interests."
